Ruth (Ruff) Clark

CLARK, RUTH ANNE (RUFF) - Ruth Anne Clark 81, Bayhead, Colchester Co., With great sadness we announce the passing of our strong and courageous wife, mother and grandmother, from cancer, at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche. Born in Mineral, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Eldon and Lulu (Hargrove) Ruff. Ruth graduated from Nursing School at the Saint John General Hospital in 1952 and completed further training in New York City. She returned to nurse at the Saint John General Hospital and married Jack Clark in 1955. She and Jack raised their four children in Riverview, N.B. after which she returned to nursing at the Moncton City Hospital. She was a Member of the Board of the Moncton YMCA and was instrumental in establishing the first rape crisis centre in Moncton. Retiring to Bayhead in 1988, she enjoyed life both overlooking the water of Tatamagouche Bay and the birds in her garden. She also enjoyed visits with her grandchildren, Christmas Club and her involvement with the Bayhead Union Church. Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Jack; children, David Clark (Carolyn Ryan), Toronto; Mary Clark-Touesnard (Peter Touesnard), Bedford; John Clark (Elizabeth Brideau), Blockhouse; Virginia Clark-Druhan (Gerard Druhan), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Jena (Sam Baida), Madeline, Ethan, Alex, David, Allison, Gavin and Gillian; sister, Marilyn Gamblin; brothers, John (Freda); Graydon (Gail); many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she was predeceased by siblings, Emsley, Hilda, Edna, James, Wayne, David, Allan, Marion, Philip, Rose and Fronie.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 23, from 7 to 9 p.m., in Coulter’s Funeral Home, 48 Riverside Dr., Tatamagouche (657-3288). The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, in Sharon United Church, Tatamagouche. Rev. Morley Bentley officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. A private burial will take place at a later date in the Lockerby Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to the local branch of the VON or any charity.
