CORBIN: Judith passed away April 25th, 2012 at Circle Drive Special Care Home in Saskatoon at the age of 95. She was born January 1st, 1917 on her immigrant Norwegian parent’s homestead 15 miles south of Aneroid, SK in the Norge district. As a child, she attended South Pinto School, a one room school house, and enjoyed working on the farm with her father. At times, Judith would help out at neighbors' farms. In 1935, she went to work at the Brook’s family dairy near Aneroid. She worked at the dairy until she married Edwin (Ted) Corbin in 1939. Together, they farmed Ted’s parents' homestead until 1975 when they retired, sold the farm to son Art, and moved to Aneroid. Ted died in 1976, but Judith continued to live in town. She worked at the Bookmobile for many years and spent many hours at the 50 Plus Seniors Club (of which she was a founding member) visiting, quilting, playing cards and having coffee with her friends. She was a long time member of UCW and the Stitch and Chatter Club. Judith relocated to Saskatoon in 2005 when she moved to Caleb Manor Seniors Residence and from there to Circle Drive Special Care Home in 2011. In addition to her husband, Ted, Judith was predeceased by parents, Nels and Bertha Nosback; in-law parents, George and Lucy Corbin; sisters, Myrtle (Joe) Bjerkestrand (Alvaun Hoversten), Anne (George) Gabrielson; brother, Orville; brother-in-law, Alf (Edith, Jean, Mable) Corbin; sister-in-law, Annie (William) Pain; and nephew, Wayne Corbin. She is survived by two sons, Gary (Karin) of Saskatoon and Art (Catherine) of Aneroid; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren – Marci (Regan) Herbst and their daughters Olivia and Elizabeth of Calgary; Lisa Corbin (Nicholas Fowles) of Calgary, Marci and Lisa’s mother Lori Corbin of Calgary; Erin Corbin (Mark Rempel) of Ottawa; Bryan (Vicki) Corbin and son Calvin of Saskatoon; and Michael Corbin (Sheila Partington) of Maple Creek; nieces and nephews - Neil (Fay) Gabrielson of Saskatoon; Bonnie (Jim) Wilson of Kincaid; Lorna Hoversten of Story City, Iowa; Linda (Noel) Singer of Webster City, Iowa; Sylvia (Steve) Minear of Kansas City, Kansas; Doris (Wayne) Corbin of Edmonton; Alan (Dorothy) Pain of Swift Current; and numerous Nostbakken cousins. Judith’s deepest passion was for her family and for the farm. Judith enjoyed many trips with Ted, and with George and Anne Gabrielson, to the Maritimes, Iowa, California, Texas, Alaska and Hawaii. She was an avid knitter and crocheter of hundreds of items of the highest quality. She was also an ardent cribbage player - playing until just days of her passing! Respecting her wishes, there will be no funeral. A family memorial will take place at Aneroid at a later date.
