Date de décès : 29 avril 2012

SINDEN, Robert Laverne “Bob”, 82. It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Laverne Sinden on Sunday, April 29, 2012. Dad was very proud to have been born in Delhi, Ont., on September 13, 1929 in the middle of nine brothers and sisters and many extended family members. When he was old enough, he left his friends and family and joined the Royal Canadian Navy to see the world and moved to Halifax. It was there that he found the love of his life, Mary Ursula Young who unfortunately predeceased him in 2006. In 1950-51 Dad served in the Korean War, and when he came home he married Ursula on August 29, 1952 and a son soon followed. Mom and Dad loved their children above all else and dedicated their life to us. Dad served in the Navy until his retirement in 1973, attaining the highest rank that an enlisted man can achieve, Chief Petty Officer First Class. From there he moved to the Federal Government where he had another full career in the Penitentiary system, achieving Acting Warden, among other key positions upon his final retirement from the working world in 1984. From 1984 to 2004 Mom and Dad enjoyed the life of the snowbird, spending six months at their cottage in White’s Lake and six months in Florida. They truly lived a blessed retirement. With the passing of his wife in 2006 Dad completely dedicated his life to his children, and for that he will never be forgotten. He was a kind, gentle, loving, generous man who truly touched all who met him. He is survived by his children, Joan, Halifax; Robert “Bob” Francis (Susan), Shelburne; and Lynn Anne (Paul), Halifax; as well as granddaughter, Erin Gorsline (Michael) and great grand-daughter, Hanna, Portland Ore., and great nephew, Joe Wright (Kelly), Prospect and many beloved relatives around Delhi, Ont., who he missed terribly living so far away from them. Memorial service and burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville has taken place. He was a lifelong animal lover and couldn’t bear the suffering of anyone. Donations made to the Nova Scotia SPCA or Shelburne Pet Projects in his name would be appreciated.
