GORDON, Victor Joseph – 87, of Yarmouth, passed away May 8, 2012 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born October 8, 1924 in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late William and Eunice (Amirault) Gordon. Victor was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the North Novies overseas. He also served with Carleton & York in Quebec and Germany. He was a 50 year member of Royal Canadian Legion Br. 61, Yarmouth. He also worked as security for 18 years at K-Mart. He is survived by wife, Theresa Muise; daughters, Sharon Gannon, Tusket; Gail Atkinson, Yarmouth; Lena (Terry) Bartlett, Edmonton, Alta.; sons, Vernon Gordon, Dartmouth; Michael Gordon, Newfoundland, Pennsylvania; brothers, Billy Gordon and George (Lois) Gordon, both of Yarmouth; sisters, Rosalie (Bob) Stanley, Katherine Surette and Florence Harris, all of Yarmouth; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Willard and Henry; sister, Marjorie. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Friday, May 11 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with a Royal Canadian Legion Br. 61 service at 7:30 p.m. followed by prayers at 8 p.m. Funeral mass was held Saturday, May 12 at 10 a.m. from St. Ambrose Cathedral with Father John MacPherson officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Family flowers only, please. Donations in Victor’s memory may be made to Yarmouth Hospital Foundation.
