Doris Clara Girouard
1922-2012
Doris Clara Girouard, age 90 years of Amherst, passed away peacefully on Saturday May 19, 2012 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in Cap Pele, NB, she was a daughter of the late Philias and Levenia (Cormier) Lirette.
In her younger years Doris was a member of the Canadian Women's Army Core, and was a lifelong member of the Holy Family Parish Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Doris will be sadly missed by her daughter, Doreen Bickerton of Burlington, ON; sons David (Jean) of Baie Verte, NB, and Peter of Aulac, NB; 4 grandsons, Chris, Kevin, Dale and Greg; 7 great grandchildren, Logan, William, Emmy, Tyson, Riley, Katelyn and Kyle; a brother Albert of Cambridge, Mass; sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Lorette, of Dartmouth; good family friend, Kanak Majumder; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers, John, Elric, Norman, Dan and Hector; Sisters, Bertha Bourque, Irene Lirette, Louise Baxter, Vange Tanner and Anita LeBlanc.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St. Amherst (902-667-8777), from where visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A memorial mass will be celebrated at the Holy Family Parish Church on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 9:30 am, followed by burial in the St. Charles - Nativity Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Doris may do so to the charity of your choice.
