Barbara was the adored Nana to Shannon (Brad), Justine, Sean, Kaylee, Laurel, Kyra and Kathleen as well as a great-grandmother to Tayler. Also left to grieve her passing are her loving sister Ellen (Gary Stanhope, Dartmouth, NS); sisters-in-law Colleen (Charlottetown, PE), Eileen (Halifax, NS), Sunny (Vancouver, BC), Bev Chappelle (Bedford, NS) and brother-in-law Stanley Myers (Edmonton, AB), as well as many special nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends from coast to coast.
She was predeceased by her brothers Wendal and John; her mother-in-law Marion (nee McCarron) and father-in-law, George E. Power; her sisters-in-law Marion and Helen and brother-in-law, Robert Power.
Our mother loved spending time with her family and friends and will be remembered for her kind, generous nature, her love of music, her laughter and penchant for storytelling that will live on in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. If anyone was lucky enough to have met our mother, one would never forget her.
We would like to thank her dear friend Lucy for her generosity, compassion and energy; her family physician, who went above and beyond her medical duties; Dr. L. Tereposky of Kelowna; Dr. G. Fradet of Vancouver and the many compassionate and caring doctors and nurses, in particular Dr. Harry Brar, who looked after our mother at the Vancouver General while she was in intensive care. For these many acts of kindness and compassion, we are eternally grateful.
