
Eileen Slauenwhite
SLAUENWHITE, Eileen Rosemary - 68 of Lawrencetown passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville after a long and courageous struggle with atrial fibrillation with her husband, Alan and daughter, Sharon by her side. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Douglas and Norah Doherty. In her younger years Eileen helped raise her siblings and cared for her sister, Shirley and brother, Kenneth before they passed away. She and Alan travelled extensively in Western Canada, Florida and the Western US while working at a hotel in Banff over an eight year period. Eileen enjoyed her many friends in the Lawrencetown area, gardening, bird watching and evening drives. She is survived by her husband, Alan; daughters, Sharon Watton (Mike McLean), Tupper Lake, NS and Kathleen (Robert) Rhoddy, Bloomington, Annapolis County; stepdaughter, Marie (Rick) Reid, Dartmouth; sons, John (Tenley) Watton, Pittsburg, PA; Richard (Cherie Francis) Watton, Coldbrook, NS; sisters, Norah (Stephen) Lewis, Walnut Creek, California; Gloria Chaisson, Musquodobit Harbour; Victoria (Keith) Myers, Pason, Utah; brothers, Stanley (Brenda) Doherty, Calgary, AB; Thomas (Karen) Doherty, Deep River, ON; seven grandchildren and special companion, her beagle “Fred”. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sister, Shirley Bathgate; brother, Kenneth Doherty and stepson, Peter Slauenwhite. Cremation has taken place. By request there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held 2:00PM, Monday, May 21, 2012 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448 with Pastor Patty Beals officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
