Victor Whiting, age 56 of Sydney and a former resident of New Waterford, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Vincent and Veronica (McPhee) Whiting. Victor worked as a coal miner with Devco for about 15 years.
He is survived by his three brothers, twin brother, Vaughn (Janet), Toronto, Vincie, Sudbury, Vernon, Orillia, Ont. Victor is also survived by his sister, Valerie Rose, Brampton, Ont. and nieces and nephews.
Victor was predeceased by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. The funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Ray Huntley is Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in St. Leonard Church. Cremation to follow with burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery at a later date.
