Muriel McCallum
McCALLUM, MURIEL GENE - 1933 - 2012 - The death of Muriel Gene McCallum, 78, of Sackville, occurred at the Drew Nursing Home on Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Born in Pugwash, NS, Muriel was the daughter of the late Clayton and Hazel (Sarson) Halliday. Muriel was a member of St. Anne's Anglican Church, Fort Beausejour Chapter IODE, Sackville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and The Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion. After High School, Muriel attended St. Charles Commercial where she completed her Business and Secretary degree in 1955. After she graduated, she held a variety of employment positions including Royal Bank, Hudson's Bay Company, Blue Bird, and Mount Allison University. Muriel spent a lot of time outdoors enjoying the sun. She liked watching movies and was an avid reader. Most of all, Muriel loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by two step-daughters, Judith (Robert) Law, Victoria, BC and Elizabeth Brock, Vancouver, BC; two step-sons, Donald (Lois) McCallum, Exeter, ON, and Rob (Erika) McCallum, Stilesville, NB; six grandchildren, Chris (Michele) Law , Mark (Jolene) Law, Jessica Brock, Katherine McCallum, Robert Douglas McCallum IV, and Lily McCallum; one brother Ronald (Eileen) Halliday, Oregon, two step-brothers; Royce (Sharon) Bacon, Calgary and Winston (Kathy) Bacon, Winchester, ON, two step-sisters; Carolyn (Walter) Curry, Amherst, NS and Barbara (Charles) Curry, Charlottetown, PEI; as well as five great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Muriel was predeceased by her husband Doug McCallum in 2004.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506-364-1300) from where visitation will be held on Monday, June 4, 2012 from 12 pm until the time of the funeral at 2 pm. Burial will follow in the Westcock Cemetery. Father Kevin Stockall officiating. Donations in Muriel's memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Drew Nursing Home for their wonderful care and compassion.
