Gertrude (Gertie) Mae Green, born in Oxbow on October 9, 1917, passed away peacefully at Extendicare Nursing Home in Moose Jaw on Wednesday May 30, 2012. Gertie is predeceased by her parents Sarah and James Strachan; husband Donald Victor Green; daughter Dorothy Mae; brothers Wilbur (Nelllie), Bob (Veva), Archie, and Bill (Alice). Gertie is survived by her daughter Gayle (Bill) – New Zealand; granddaughter, Phillipa (Steve) of London, UK; and grandson Geoffrey (Pip) of New Zealand; long-time friend Vivian Wilson; sisters-in-law Betty Ford and Betty Green of Regina; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gayle and Bill would like to thank all of the staff at Extendicare for their love and support over the past 12 ½ years. A Memorial Service will be held at Extendicare Activity Centre, on Monday June 4, 2012 at 3:30 pm. The Reverend Deacon Arleen Champion will officiate. Private Memorialization will take place prior to the Service at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Extendicare Resident Council would be appreciated.
