The death occurred at the Prince Edward Home on Monday, December 28, 2009, of BGen Barry M. Curley (Retired) of Cornwall, P.E.I., age 61 years, after a long, courageous battle with Benson\'s Syndrome.
Barry was the beloved husband of Phyllis (Bulger); devoted father of Dr. Michael Curley (Anna Chapman), Halifax; and Patrick Curley, Calgary. Dear brother of Shirley O\'Connell (Vernon MacDonald), Albany; Gail (Melvin) Hughes, Fort Augustus; Paul (Ruth) Curley, Cornwall; Nola (Brian) Shea, Tarantum; and Alan (Susan) Curley, Cornwall. Also survived by brother-in-law, Ralph Bulger (Karol Bernard), West Point; sisters-in-law, Gail (Eric) Shaw, O\'Leary; Christine (Bruce) Smallman, Springfield West; Ginny Bulger (Dana Collicutt), Alberta; and Nancy Bulger, Sherwood; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Barry was predeceased by his parents, Amos and Faustina Curley; parents-in-law, Willis and Daria Bulger; sister-in-law, Zita Curley; brothers-in-law, George O\'Connell and Alton Bulger; and nephew, David Bulger.
Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home until Saturday at 9:30, then to St. Dunstan’s Basilica for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment in St. Martin of Tours and St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Cumberland.
Visitation Wednesday 6-9 p.m. and Thursday 2-4 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the P.E.I. Humane Society or Big Brothers and Big Sisters of P.E.I.
