Frances Marie Alena King - 71, of Avonport, Kings County, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Amherst, she was the daughter and only child of the late Harold and Edwina (Goodwin) Cruickshanks. A homemaker, Frances enjoyed time spent with her family. Frances also helped her husband, William do volunteer work for the Lions Club, including Meals-on-Wheels in Wolfville and bingo at the Wolfville Elms Nursing Home. She was also a member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Wolfville. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, William Joseph King; three daughters, Rebecca, Halifax; Cindy (Sean) Williams, Sydney, Australia; Christine, at home; a son, Kevin William, at home; a granddaughter, Matilda, Sydney, Australia. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service followed by a reception will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2012 in St. John’s Anglican Church, Wolfville, Reverend Sandra Fyfe officiating. Burial will take place in the Lower Horton Cemetery, Grand Pré. Donations in memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
