Marie Rose Aucoin, 90 of Cheticamp passed away peacefully on June 13, 2012, at Foyer Père Fiset, surrounded by her family.
Born in Cheticamp, she was a daughter of the late Henri and Colombe (Boudreau) Aucoin.
Marie Rose spent the last two years of her life at Le Foyer Père Fiset and was very fortunate to have been a resident of Residence Jeunesse d’Hier. One of her greatest passions was rug hooking, which started at a very early age and continued till shortly before her 90th birthday. She battled heart and Parkinson’s disease but still enjoyed life to the fullest. She will be remembered for her remarkable sense of humour... as we say in French, she was “ricasseuse”. She loved fiddle music and would often sing along to old Acadian songs during family gatherings. She was always happy to have company over for a cup of tea and sweets or a game of cards. She was a very courageous and religious woman and did not let life’s challenges diminish her faith. She will be sadly missed by many.
