Passed peacefully away at the Escasoni, St John’s on June 14, 2012 at the extraordinary age of 97 years. Mabel was born in Saunders Cove, Glovertown on December 28, 1914 to her parents Hedley and Hannah Davis and was the last surviving of eight children. Predeceased by her loving husband G. Howard Vivian (December 8, 1981), and son-in-law Paul Batstone (February 15, 2003), Survived by her daughter Glenda Batstone, grandsons Keith (spouse Annette Matthias) and Trevor (spouse Meagan Cottreau) and great-grandsons Lucas and Ethan Batstone, as well as many nieces and nephews. Thank you to the Davis families for always helping and visiting, Gower Street United Church for keeping her in their prayers and visiting, 6 west St. Clare’s and 3 east Escasoni for their excellent care for the past three months. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. on Friday, June 15, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and again on Saturday, June 16, 2012 from 10 a.m.-12 noon. Funeral service will be held from Barrett’s Chapel on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Mabel’s memory may be made to Shriners Transportation Fund or the Paul S. Batstone Memorial Scholarship Fund.
