It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt Ellen MacFarlane age 84 a resident of Legatto Street, Sydney Mines on Thursday Dec. 31, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney Mines she was a daughter of the late Christopher and Christina (Gillispie) Robinson. Ellen was a faithful member of the Gospel Hall in Sydney Mines. She loved baking, cooking and entertaining her family and friends in her home.
Surviving is her daughter Christine MacFarlane, Sydney Mines; sons Robert ‘Bob’ (Mary) MacFarlane, North Sydney, James (Cynthia) MacFarlane, Riverview, N.B., David (Alana) MacFarlane, Point Aconi; daughter-in-law Barbara MacFarlane, Kingston, Ont.; sister Eileen Charvat, Bandcroft, Ontario; grandchildren Patricia, Scott, Randy, Chris, Bill, Stephanie, Tyler; great-grandchildren Jake, Samantha, Erin, Lauren, Tia, Katie, Bishop, Janet.
Ellen was predeceased by her husband William ‘Bill’ MacFarlane; one son William C. MacFarlane; sisters Ann and Shirley; brother James.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday January 3, 2010 in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral to be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Gospel Hall, Sydney Mines, Wayne MacQueen, Fred Bartlett, David Swan officiating. Burial to take place at Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
