Passed peacefully away at The Miller Centre, on June 17, 2012, following a lengthy battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), Alonzo Gibbons, of St. Vincent's, SMB., aged 57 years. Predeceased by his parents Alonzo and Marie Gibbons and brothers Pius and Leonard. Leaving to mourn brothers: Adrian (Mary) and Simon (Frances); sisters: Ellen (Erwin), Anne (Aiden), Pauline (Edward), Gertrude (Leo), Margaret (Tim), Sandra (John) and Martina (Herbert); sister-in-law Evelyn Gibbons; 16 nephews, 9 nieces and many other relatives and friends. Alonzo was a long time member of the Pipefitter's Union, Local 740. Resting at Fr. Battcock Memorial Chapel, St. Vincent's, on Wednesday, June 20 from 7 - 9 pm (family only) and Thursday, June 21, 2 - 4 pm; 7 - 9 pm (no visitation on Friday). Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 22, at 11 am at Sacred Heart Church, St. Vincent’s. Burial to follow.
