The death occurred peacefully on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, surrounded by her loving family and health care staff, of Ursuline Keefe (nee MacIntyre) of Kinkora and formerly of Grand Tracadie, age 88 years.
Wife of the late Gerald Keefe. Daughter of the late Daniel and Margaret (nee Murphy). Beloved mother of John (Carol), Kinkora; Margaret (Peggy), Kinkora; Rose Marie (Bennie) Noonan, Searletown; Patricia (Paul) Taylor, Winnipeg, Manitoba; Gerard (Jean), Athabasca, Alberta; Edith (late Wayne) MacLeod, Edmonton, Alberta; Geraldine (late Joel) Gordon, Edmonton, Alberta; and Christopher R. (Carla), Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia. Survived by her sister Rose (late Ralph) Connolly; sisters-in-law Bernadette (late Alfred) MacIntyre, Mary (O’Leary) Curley, Mary (late Maurice) Keefe, Genevieve (late Leonard) Keefe, Mary (late Earl) Keefe, Bine (late Lorne) Keefe, Kathleen (late Billy) Murphy and Hermine (late Elmer) Keefe; and by her brother-in-law O’Leary Curley. Also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Carrie Anne (Paul) Rogers, Greg (Kim) Noonan, Crystal (Mitch) King, Kyle (Taryn) Taylor, Melissa (Jeff) Toye, Holly (Shaun) Elliott, Adam Keefe, Judith Keefe, Matthew MacLeod (Rebekah Prine), Candie (Chris) and Sarah (Luke) Gordon, Tracey (Kirk) Chaisson, Joseph Keefe, Christopher J. Keefe; and by her cherished great-grandchildren: Bethany and Abigail Rogers, Madison and Noah King, Raleigh Noonan, Jake Toye, Gazlyn MacLeod, Alex Keefe and Liam Chaisson.
Predeceased by her husband Gerald Keefe; infant sons William and Joseph; parents Daniel and Margaret (nee Murphy) MacIntyre; brother Alfred MacIntyre; sons-in-law Joel Gordon and Wayne MacLeod; sisters-in-law Sister Mary Angela Keefe CSM, Sister Marion Keefe CSM; brothers-in-law Ralph Connolly, Billy Murphy, Reverend Wilfred Keefe, Johnnie (late Mary) Keefe, Earl Keefe, Maurice Keefe, Leslie (late Helen) Keefe, Elmer Keefe, Leonard Keefe and Lorne Keefe.
Resting at Lawless Funeral Home, Kinkora, for visitation on Friday, June 22, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., then to St. Malachy’s Church for funeral mass on Saturday, June 23, at 10 a.m. Interment in the parish cemetery.
If so desired, and in lieu of flowers, memorials to the St. Malachy’s Cemetery Fund or the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
Members of the CWL will say prayers at the funeral home on Friday, June 22, at 6:30 p.m.
Due to family allergies, please refrain from wearing scents.
