It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of Paul Fraser, which occurred Friday, June 22, 2012, at home.
Born in New Waterford, he was the youngest son of the late Daniel and Annabel ‘Hannah’ (MacKinnon) Fraser.
Paul was employed with Sydney Steel Corp. as a welder, retiring in 2001, after 30 years of service. His love for music influenced him to become a gifted guitar player, he may not have been a professional but put on the best “kitchen parties.” He was everyone’s favourite “Uncle Paulie.”
He is survived by his loving wife, Jessie Morrison-Fraser; his daughters, Rayna (David) Gillis and Cathy (John) Gibson, both of Ontario; and his son, Glenn (Cynthia), Prime Brook; his precious granddaughter, Rhiannon Gillis; his sister, Catherine Clements, New Brunswick; his brothers, Francis, Sydney, and William (Mary), South Bar; and the mother of his children, Anne Miller, Saskatchewan. He is also survived and will be sadly missed by his step-grandchildren, Justin, Brandon and Katie, and their mother, Tammy Fraser; many nieces and nephews; his caregiver, Honey Burke and his “fur babies” Kitty-koo, Alice and Delilah.
Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by sisters, Christine ‘Chris’ Allen Drover and Mary Roper, brothers, Angus, Simon, Danny, Ronald and Richard.
Arrangements are under the direction of Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines, with the co-operation of the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, where visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, June, 27, 2012. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday at 11 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier, with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Burial at a later date.
