KENT, MARY ELIZABETH (BETTY) - Betty Kent died peacefully, after a brief illness, on June 25, 2012, at Thomas Hall, Shannex Parkland, in Fredericton, N.B., in the presence of family members. She was born on August 16, in Colliers Newfoundland, the daughter of the late James and Cecilia (Rotchford) Burke. Betty was pre-deceased in 1994, by her husband Len Kent of Westmount, Cape Breton, NS. She is survived by daughters, Diane Kent Gillis (Greg Gillis) Fredericton N.B., Linda Kent (Stephen Pardoe) Hinchinbrooke, Quebec, Allison Boudreau (Raymond) Spruce Grove, Alta, Claire Kent (Michael McDonald) London, England, Ruth Kent (David Porcellato) Port Elgin Ont., Cynthia Kent (Kevin West) Carleton Place, Ont; two sisters, Catherine Coady (Bill) St. John’s NL, and Anne Hutchinson (Hutch) Fairfield, CA; and two brothers, James Burke, Philadelphia, Pa. and Nick Burke, Toronto, Ont, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Patrick Burke of St. John’s, NL. Betty deeply loved her grandchildren and treasured the time spent with each of them. Her grandchildren include; Kristine Moore (Cliff Van Kempen) of Barrie, Ontario, Cara Gillis (Jeff Lawler) Los Angeles, California, Kaitlyn Gillis, (Tom Joyce) Fredericton, NB, Catherine Boudreau, Edmonton, Alta, Adrian Boudreau, Spruce Grove, Alta, Ellen and Rachael McDonald London, England and Hannah Kent, Port Elgin, Ontario.
Following cremation, a visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home from 7 to 9 PM on Thursday, June 28. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon, on Friday, June 29, 2012 at St. Dunstan’s Parish Church Fredericton, followed by a reception in the Monsignor Boyd Family Centre.
