LIL BOOKOUT
Date de décès : 2 juillet 2012
It is with sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of our mom, grandma and great-grandma, Lil on July 2, 2012. Lil was born in Moose Jaw on February 28, 1922, to Hilda and Alfred Thompson. In 1944 she married Lou Bookout and they would enjoy many great years together before his passing in 1988. Mom always looked forward to spring when she could get outside to work in the yard and to sit at her back door and enjoy a chat with family and friends. Mom had a wonderful sense of humour and a sharp wit – always making us laugh. She was always up for a game of cards or dominoes and remained competitive until the end. Mom really enjoyed all the family get-togethers with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who knew her as “GG” – short for great-grandma. She loved music and enjoyed traveling – whether it was a shopping spree in Minot, traveling with friends, or visiting long time friends as far away as Denmark and Germany. Lil was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lou Bookout, younger brother Jim Thompson and her parents Hilda and Alfred Thompson, as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and Lou’s parents. She’ll be lovingly remembered with wonderful memories by her daughter Lynda (Bob) O’Reilly of Moose Jaw, daughter Leone (Richard) Tastad of Strongfield; grandchildren Patrick O’Reilly, Curtis O’Reilly, Tracie Tastad, Ryan (Vanessa) Tastad and Chad Tastad; as well as four great-grandchildren Cameron O’Reilly, and Reece, Morgan and Emmerson Tastad. Also left to mourn are two sisters-in-law, Helen Konopaki and Marie Bookout; and brother-in-law Wilf Bernard. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital and the Regina General Hospital Cardiac Care Unit. The Funeral Service will be held at W.J. Jones & Son Chapel on Friday July 6, 2012 at 11:00 am. Della Ferguson will officiate. Private Family interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery. Memorial donations in Lil’s memory may be made to the Sask. Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the charity of your choice. In living memory of Lil, a memorial planting will be made by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register book at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
