Cyril Bert Chapple,
88, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital following a brief struggle with cancer.
Cyril is predeceased by his mother, father and 2 brothers. He leaves behind a wife of 68 years, Esther Louise Chapple; his children Shirley Sevigny (Bill), Sid Chapple (Jeanne), Valerie Tolton (Dave) and Dean Chapple (Pam), grandchildren; Charene VanDale, Kevin Sevigny, Shayla Blue, Brent Sevigny, Kody Chapple, AJ Thompson, Brett Tolton, Vicki Tolton, Brendan Chapple, Miranda Chapple; 12 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Woodrow and Raymond Chapple.
Cyril was born in Marquis, Saskatchewan on January 20, 1924, the son of Harry and Virginia Chapple. In 1928, as a small child he moved to the Peace River country with his parents and 4 brothers where they homesteaded in Rose Prairie, BC. In 1944 he married Esther Gillard, they also farmed in Rose Prairie, BC.
He started trucking as a young man and worked on building the Alaska Highway, trucked in the Fort St. John oil patch for many years and later hauled gravel.
At the age of 52 he semi-retired and spent the next 25 winters in Mesa Arizona where he traded in his curling broom and refined his golf game.
Cyril ‘s quick wit and one liners were always good for a chuckle or two.
There will be a celebration of life tea in the media room at Carrington Place, 4651 23rd Street, Vernon BC on Friday, July 6th, 2012 at 2:00pm.
