GERVAIS: Joseph Marcel Gervais, age 73, of Swift Current and formerly of Aneroid, passed away Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current. The Funeral Service was held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 4, 2012 from the Chapel of Warren's Funeral Home with Laura Balas officiating. Pianist and Soloist was Barb Mirau. Reader was Giselle Carriere and the Life Tribute was presented by Art Loucks. The pallbearers were Gerry Ruehs, Jack McMillan, Don Balas, Don Empey, Bob Walls and Gordon Simpson. The interment service took place at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current. Marcel was born in Spirit Wood, SK on May 25, 1939. He attended school in Benson, Sk. and on November 28, 1964 he was united in marriage to Cheryl Loucks in Canora, SK. Marcel worked for Sask Power for 35 and retired at age 55. The couple lived in several locations. From Canora they moved to Weyburn, Carnduff, Oxbow, Estevan, Humboldt and then the bright lights of Aneroid, where they lived for forty years. They then moved to Swift Current and live here for two year and 1 month. Marcel was also involved with the Elks Lodge, Aneroid Curling Club and the Hall Board. Marcel enjoyed fishing, golfing and curling. He went several times up north to fish and would fish with his family on their boat at Fishing Lake Sask. Marcel would also get to visit the in-laws in Invermay and they would all get Grammas Saskatoon Pie. He was Draw Master at the curling rink for years and spent many hours on the phone getting teams and bonspiels organized. In the summer, he enjoyed golfing with his friends in Ponteix and Thompson Lake. The Elk's Golf Tournaments were looked forward to every year. Marcel also bowled and played pool. He was a very quiet man with a good sense of humour and very concencious in everything he did. Marcel is survived by his wife Cheryl; son Marc; daughter Chantal (Darrel) Sobb; sister Madeline Hill; brother-in-law Dale Lozinski; brother Gerald and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and mother George and Olive. Baby son Darryl Richard; sisters-in-law Bobbie Gervais and Joyce and Ken Marlow; grandparents Ernest and Hermeline Gauthier, nephew Robert Marlow and nieces Leanne and Michelle Hill. Marcel will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his family and friends.
