Rodney Melvin Medley (Rod) It is with great sadness that we announce Rod's passing July 15, 2008. Left to mourn are wife Jackie and daughter Emily, Mom Rose (John), Dad Rod Sr, Sisters Angela and Alicia, Brother Alexander, Jackie's Mom and Dad Peter & Eva and sister Kerry along with numerous nieces and nephews. Rod was born in Kamloops and other than eight years in Victoria, spent the majority of his life here. He enjoyed playing hockey and participating in all outdoor pursuits. After many years working at Home Hardware he graduated from Fire College in Vermillion, AB in 2001. His eleven years as an Auxiliary Firefighter in Westsyde served him well when he realized his lifelong dream of becoming a Professional Firefighter joining the ranks of Kamloops Fire Rescue in 2002. Rod was a caring and loving father and husband to Emily and Jackie, a son and brother to be proud of, and a Firefighter that his brothers and sisters at the Firehall could count on when the going got tough. His easy going approach to life, empathetic manner and loyalty to his friends and family made him popular around the Firehall and wherever he went.
