Timothy ‘Tim’ departed this life suddenly and tragically on Nov. 28, 2011, of a brain aneurism.
He was born Feb. 28, 1953, on Sampson Air Force base near Romulus, New York. After his father’s military retirement, the family moved to the small rural town of Gales Ferry, CT in 1959. He graduated from Ledyard High School, CT in 1971 and earned a B.A. degree from Eastern Connecticut State University in 1975.
A month after graduating from university, Tim moved to San Francisco where he lived for 36 years. In 1976, he met Ruth MacKay, his future wife, best friend and constant companion. Each summer since 2001, Tim and Ruth traveled to Grand River, N.S., (Ruth’s birthplace) to spend time at their home on the East Side. Tim’s interests included travelling, reading, photography, history, politics, sports, music, hikes in nature and being near the ocean. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was caring and considerate with a strong sense of family and friendship. He was gregarious, a great conversationalist and had the enviable ability to strike up a conversation with anyone.
He is deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by Ruth MacKay-Shea, his loving, devoted wife and partner of 35 years; sister, Susan Bishop; brother, Michael Shea; sister-in-law, Shawna Reid; nephews, Ian, Tyler, Troy, Mathew, Jason; niece, Kerri.
He was predeceased by his parents, Wallace George Shea and Celia Shea (Wodjylak), formerly of Gales Ferry, CT.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at the Grand River United Church of Canada at 2 p.m., followed by an interment at the Lewis Cove Cemetery and a reception at the Grand River Fire Hall.
