It is with a saddened heart that I, the last surviving child of Annie Vera Kuchurean, formerly of Ocean Street, Sydney Mines, announce her passing at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 23, 2012.
Born in Sydney Mines, Black Point, N.S., she was the daughter of George and Ellen Magdalene (LeBlanc) Penney.
Mom was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved playing cards with friends and had a passion for dancing. She was a faithful member of St. Pius X parish, Sydney Mines, where she was a charter member of the parish Catholic Womens League.
Vera is survived by her son Stephen (Roberta) and daughter-in-law Nancy, all living in Ontario. She will be dearly missed by her six grandchildren, Sarah (Chris), Kevin (Jessica), Kyle (Sasha), Brianna, Matthew and Cristina. She will also be missed by her five great-grandchildren. Vera is also survived by her sister Mary Angela ‘Angie’ Dunphy, her brother Timothy ‘Tim’ Penney and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Daniel Kuchurean, her children, Paul and Daniel, her sisters, Mary Viola Bond, Anna Rita Hawkins, Ellen Snow and Dora Matilda Epifano, her brothers, Jerome Frederick Penney, John Charles Penney, Joseph Owen Penney and Isiah ‘Sy’ Penney.
Mom loved her family and her passing will leave a void in the hearts of family and friends alike.
We would like to offer a sincere thank you to the wonderful staff of the Harbourstone Enhanced Care for their professional care and compassion they provided to Mom for the last three years.
Visitation Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church at 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2012.
