The death of James Earl Purdy, 71, occurred at the Brockton City Hospital, Massachusets, on July 18, 2012.
Born in New Waterford on Dec. 24, 1940, he was the son of the late Harold and Sadie (Ritchie) Purdy.
He served in the American army. For many years he worked for Hersey’s Products making water meters until it closed.
Jimmie was a brother, husband, father, grandfather and a great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Irene (Jones); his former wife and mother of his children, Helen (McMahon); son, Francis and daughter, Rayleen Silva; grandchildren, Toni, Cassie, Savannah and Aiden; a great-grandson, Cameron; his sister, Elsie (Dave) Wilkie; his brother, Ray (Diane) Purdy and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Harold Jr. and grandson, Conner.
He was a kind and gentle person. He loved to play horseshoes and won several tournaments.
A military funeral was held at Waitt Funeral Home in Brockton, Mass. Cremation followed. Burial will be in Veterans Cemetery in Bourne, Mass.
