The death of Joseph Bernard Cormier, age 87, of River Hebert occurred peacefully at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Wednesday, July 25, 2012
Born in Joggins, he was a son of the late Albert and Kathleen (Brine) Cormier.
Joseph was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #4, Joggins as well as an honourary member of the Joggins Volunteer Fire Department.
Joseph will be sadly missed and is survived by his daughter, Debra Lynn (Paul) Jewers of Etobicoke, ON; sisters, Freda Cormier of Dartmouth, NS and Helen Mills of Niagara, Ont.; brother, Lester of Joggins; 2 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews and long time friends, Ruby Smith and Mildred Brown.
He was predeceased by brothers, Charlie, Alfred, Amos, Robert, Basil; a sister, Agnes as well as a sister in infancy.
Joseph's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, River Hebert, NS, from where a time of visitation will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, Joggins on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 10 am, Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Burial in the St. Denis Cemetery, Minudie at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society gratefully accepted. www.furlongjones.ca
