Inez Colpitts
COLPITTS, INEZ - Inez Joanna (Steeves) Colpitts, 98, of Colpitts Settlement, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Monarch Hall, Riverview. Born in Pleasantvale she was a daughter of the late Walter and Jennie Steeves. A graduate of the Provincial Normal School, after her marriage she became an accomplished farm wife and devoted mother. She cared for her aging mother, mother-in-law and father-in-law in their final years. She then returned to teaching in the early 1960's as the first teacher of special needs children in the new consolidated school in Salisbury. She also took many university courses to update her teaching certification. Inez was a life member of the Colpitts United Church and Colpitts Women's Institute. She is survived by sons W. Wayne Colpitts (Reta) of Fredericton, Roger Colpitts (Pauline) of Colpitts Settlement; daughter Nancy Colpitts (Stephen Campbell) of Halifax; son-in-law David Matthews of Riverview; sister Alice Tait of Quispamsis; sisters-in-law Elsie Steeves of Synton and Madge Colpitts of Riverview. Inez is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she is predeceased by husband Lawrence; daughter Gloria Matthews; grandson Roger Colpitts Jr.; sisters Wilda Mitchell and Freda Shaffer and brother Lewis Steeves.
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Saturday, July 28, 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held at the Colpitts United Church Sunday, July 29 at 5 p.m. with Rev. Dan Compton officiating. Interment to follow at Colpitts Community Cemetery.
