RYAN, James Vincent – October 17, 1924 - December 16, 2009. Dr. James V. Ryan died unexpectedly on December 16, 2009 in Houston, Texas at the age of 85. Born in St. John's, Newfoundland, Jim attended St. Bonaventure's College there. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from McGill University, Montreal and received his Degree in Medicine in Dublin at the National University of Ireland. Jim was a well-loved and highly regarded physician in St. John's, and later in Houston where he lived for more than 40 years. Jim was a passionate sailor and an avid reader. He will be lovingly remembered for his lively storytelling and good nature. He is survived by his wife Cathleen, his two children Barry and Siobhan, as well as his sisters Mary Becker Guziak (New York), Edythe Goodridge (Newfoundland) and brother William Roger Ryan (Florida). He will also be missed by his three granddaughters, Kathleen Ryan, Charlotte Ryan and Maggie Lever, and by his daughter-in-law Beth Harrington and his son-in-law David Lever, all of Toronto.
