It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Leo Stapleton at home on July 28, 2012.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late John Patrick and Annie May (Lively) Stapleton.
Leo enjoyed fishing, camping, carpentry and gardening, but his great love was spending time with family and friends. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. He was known as a very generous and caring man who would help anyone in need. He was a great father, grandfather and friend, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Leo is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Lawren MacKinnon) and Lacey (Babatunde Cole); granddaughters, Adelina and Madelyn Cole; sisters, Cheryl (Kevin Colford), Joan (Leo MacLeod); brothers, Lorne (Loretta), Allan (Laila), Carl (Alma), Kirby (Pat), Ricky (Amanda) and Vernon along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Leo was predeceased by his brothers, Dennis, Jerry, Tommy and Joseph ‘Buckey’.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral service will be held Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cape Breton Regional Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Foundation.
