It is with deep sadness that we must announce the death of our mother Dorothy "Dot" Rector, age 73, of Brookdale. Dorothy passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Tuesday, July 31, 2012.
Born in Sackville, she was a daughter of the late George and Jennie (Lee) Estabrooks.
Dot was very family orientated, and a great people person. She loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed baking, flowers, and listening to music. She attended all the Music Jams in the area. Her favorite past time was talking on the phone.
Dot will be dearly missed by daughter Carol Hoeg (Bruce), Truro, NS; son Bruce of Brookdale, NS; sisters Paige (Carl) Burrill, Whitby, ON, Barbara Moss (Don), Brookdale, NS; brother Edgar (Norma) Estabrooks, Sackville, NB; and granddaughter Susie (Ken) Rushton, Oxford, NS; 2 great grandchildren, Jennica and Jeremy Rushton; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Thomas; daughter Gloria Rector; grandson Bruce Douglas Hoeg Jr.; sisters Myrtle Cooke, Eunice Huey, Kaye Furlong, Anna Scott, Georgina Estabrooks, Muriel Estabrooks, Jessie Estabrooks, and Joyce Estabrooks; brother Myles, Murray, Cecil, Garnet and Milton.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will take place on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 2 pm, Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Burial will follow in the Amherst Cemetery.
