FERLAND, Marcel passed away August 5, 2012 at the Melfort Hospital surrounded by his family. Marcel married Cathy White on December 30, 1989 and together built their family with three sons, Ryan, Beau and Logan. He loved to be with Cathy and his boys. He spent his time taking them camping, fishing and hunting; and got involved with the boys’ sports activities as they were growing up. As a young man, Marcel always loved being outdoors, whether it was on his uncle’s farm or around Ponteix where he grew up. And so it was not surprising when he became a Conservation Officer, it was his passion. For 30 years he worked throughout the province of Saskatchewan, Melfort being his last posting. Many friendships were formed at each location. He was born in Ponteix, SK January 26, 1956. Marcel was predeceased by his parents Florence and Ernest Ferland and Uncles Henri Mondor and John Hard. Marcel is sadly missed by his loving wife Cathy and sons Ryan, Beau and Logan; sisters Suzanne Marsollier, Pauline Ferland and Armande George (Harry); in-laws Jack (Shelly) White, Maureen (Rick) Hiebert, Tom (Cheryl) White and Pat (Pam) White; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces; God Children Brock Malberg and Bernadette Danyluk. Also left behind are Uncles Gerry Mondor, John (Terry) Mondor and Gaston (Gertrude) Mondor and Aunt Noella Hard and numerous cousins. He loved his family and he loved his work. He left us too soon. He will be greatly missed. The Prayer Service for Marcel was held on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, August 10 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Alberto dela Pena as Celebrant. Both services were held from Our Lady of Consolation Church, Melfort, SK. Scripture Readers were Jillene George and Pauline Ferland and the eulogy was delivered by Suzanne Marsollier. The Pallbearers were Robert Hard, Roger Mondor, Jeremy Mondor, Chad George, Brock Malberg, and Charly White, the Honorary Pallbearers were Gerard Mondor, Nellie Mondor, Renee Decosee, Clinton Marsollier, Fred Baron, Louis and Shirley Masse, Dan and Carol Danyluk, Alice Schmidt and all those who were so close in Marcel’s life. Jaclyn and Kellie Malberg were the ushers and Gisele George and Brett Malberg attended the Memorial guest book. An Honor Guard was formed by Conservation Officers. Music Ministry was provided by Doris Wig, Nadine Hoffman, Kerry LaClare, Wanda and Neil Bortis and Margaret Koch.
