Nora Cahill (nee Fox)

It is with great sadness and heart breaking sorrow that the family of Nora Cahill announce her passing on August 8th, 2012 at the Health Sciences Center in St. John’s surrounded by her family. Nora was born in St. John’s and received her professional nursing designate from the Halifax Infirmary in Nova Scotia in 1947. She went on to join the Victorian Order of Nurses in St. John’s. She will be remembered by all of us for her sincere kindness and consideration to others, her pride in her children and love of her family. Nora is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years Gerard; her loving daughters: Moya (Paul) Gaudet and Nora (Pierre) Gauvreau; son, Fred (Doreen); her grandchildren whom she loved dearly and took great joy from: Jennifer Marie, David, Marah, Nicholas, Zachery, Mia and Simon Peter; her sisters: Sheila Ryan and Joan Lafontaine; her brothers: Cyril and David (Madeline) Fox; her dearest friend, Peg Kavanagh, special cousin, Richard Cashin and a large circle of friends and relatives. Nora was preceded in death by her parents, Judge Cyril J. Fox and Mary (nee Cashin) and her sister, Marie and brother Charles. Many thanks to the dedicated and compassionate staff of the emergency department at the Health Sciences Center and the staff at the Tiffany Village. A special thanks to Dr. Grenville Adams and his hematology team. As well as thanks to the faculty and staff at the family practice unit at the Health Sciences Complex. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road with visitation on Thursday, August 9th from 7 pm to 9 pm and on Friday, August 10th from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Pius X Parish on Smithville Crescent at 9:30 am on Saturday, August 11th, 2012. Interment will follow at the Belvedere Cemetery in St. John’s.
