CORMIER, IRENE - Irene Cormier, 94, of Bas-Cap-Pelé, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2012 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre. Born on April 7, 1918 in Amherst, NS, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Zelica (Landry) Melanson. Prior to her retirement she worked at Cape Bald Packers and Cormier LeBlanc. She was also a member of the Club d'åge d'or in Cap-Pelé. She is survived by two daughters: Huberte Kaminski (Sigmund) of Kitchener, ON and Maria LeBlanc (Charles) of Petit-Cap; five sons: Roméo (Camilla), Alex (Marie Anne), Joseph (Alva) and Clairice (Pauline) all of Cap-Pelé and Paul-Émile (Joanne) of Grand-Barachois; two sisters: Rita Cormier of Kitchener, ON and Bernadette Bourgeois (Alfred) of Dieppe; one brother, Joseph Melanson of Waltham, MA; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; one great great-grandson, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Gérard Cormier (2000); a son, Azor; a daughter, Giselle; four sisters: Marguerite, Rosie, Mathilda and Edna; two brothers: Alex and René and two grandchildren: Joey and Maria.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Home, 2642 Acadie Rd., Cap-Pelé (577-3297) Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., on Monday 6p.m. until time of departure. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Ste. Thérèse d'Avila R.C. Church, Cap-Pelé, on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 7 p.m. Interment will be in parish cemetery.
