Born March 10, 1944 in Glace Bay, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012.
Son of the late James and Elizabeth (Littlewood) Struthers. George resided in Halifax for the past 50 years. He owned and operated Allen Print Ltd. He was a valued and much loved member of the Salvation Army, Halifax Citadel Community Church and held various positions in its administration since 1973.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Irene (Aulenback) Struthers; daughters, Cynthia Struthers-Kerr (Terry), Charmaine Struthers (Clayton); son, Cameron Struthers; grandchildren, Chad, Kristian, Dana, Samuel, Lisa and Cailean; sisters, Pearl Quigg (Jim), Ottawa Ont., Jeanette Jackson (Doug), Ingonish, Cape Breton, Ruth Comer (Wayne), Glace Bay; brother, Jim Struthers (Jean), Halifax. During the past five years George showed great strength and patience in the face of unrelenting illness. He blessed our lives abundantly.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 at Atlantic Funeral Homes, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. A Promotion to Glory service will be conducted by Captains Tim and Krista Andrews at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19 at the Salvation Army Halifax Citadel Community Church, 1327 Barrington St., Halifax.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Salvation Army Halifax Citadel Community Church.
