Dolena Isabel Atherton
April 12, 1927 – August 13, 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dolena Isabel Atherton at the age of 85 years, peacefully in her sleep with her son Rob by her side at Parkridge Centre on August 13th, 2012. She is predeceased by her loving husband (married 49 years) and her 3 brothers: Al, Henry and Russ. She was a wife, mother and sister extraordinaire. She was known to family and friends as Del and to nieces and nephews and the many various kids she took under her wings as Auntie Del, all names worn with pride. There is a tree planted some 55 years ago, outside St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Spadina Cres. in Saskatoon – planted on Mom & Dad’s wedding day in 1957, that grows as a living testament of the love of my Mom & Dad. Her favourite summers were spent both as a child and most years since at Emma Lake. Three generations now, thanks to mom , love to relax “at Emma”. She is survived by her son Rob, and grandchildren, Alexander and Keeley. In keeping with Mom’s wishes there will be no memorial services. Donations in honor of Dolena will be gratefully accepted by Parkridge Centre (110 Gropper Crescent, Saskatoon). Arrangements are in entrusted to Kurtis Rae of Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Centre (15 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon, SK).
