Wallace Stephen Long, 66, of Sydney and formerly of Whitney Pier, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, at his home.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late John A. and Catherine (Young) Long.
He was a member of Holy Redeemer parish and a retiree of CBRM water department.
Wally loved spending his retirement skating, swimming, going to the gym, walking and playing his guitar.
He is survived by five brothers, Lloyd (late Margaret), John (late Dolly), Robert (late Marie), Kenneth (Denice), Leo (Wilena); five sisters, Viola (George) Hubert, Joyce (late Adrian) Coté, Rose (James) Johnstone, Leona (Joe) Sampson, Colleen (Ernie) Sampson; sister-in-law, Barbara Long; his longtime friend, Eva Bernard; his first wife, Elaine Hanna; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Janet Nicholson, brothers, Arthur and Roy, sister, Shirley (late Edward) Postlewaite and by two grandnieces and three nephews.
There will be no visitation for the late Mr. Long. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church with Rev. MacLellan officiating. Interment at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
