It is with heavy hearts and sadness we announce the passing of John Wolodka on Aug. 15, 2012, at home.
Born in Sydney, John was the son of the late Peter and Annie (Malowany) Wolodka.
In his earlier days, John was an employee with the Toyota plant in Point Edward. John’s children and grandchildren were his life. He was an avid walker and enjoyed the company of his friends. John will be remembered by family and friends for being soft hearted and generous.
John will be sadly missed by his wife, Ann Marie (Wells); daughter, Wanita; son, John; grandchildren, D’Anna, Matthew, William and Emma; great-grandchildren, Vessa and Stephen. He is also survived by brothers, Michael, Fred and Bill; sisters, Pauline and Rosemarie; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by sisters, Mary and Nellie.
Visitation and funeral service to celebrate the life of John Wolodka will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.) today (Monday, Aug. 20, 2012). A gathering of family and friends will take place from 10-11 a.m. with memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. with Major Kent Hepditch officiating. Light refreshments will be served in the reception area. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
Donations in memory of John Wolodka may be made to Salvation Army Sydney Community Church.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
