CORMIER, CECILE - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cecile Cormier, 93, of the Villa Providence, Shediac and formerly of Cocagne, on Thursday August 16, 2012 at her residence following a lengthy illness. Born on April 4, 1919 in Saint-Antoine, she was the daughter of the Philippe and Azile (LeBlanc) Cormier. She attended St-Pierre R.C. Church, Cocagne and was a member of Cocagne Golden Age Club. Cecile was an orphan at an early age and was adopted by Alphée Goguen of White's Settlement with whom she resided until her marriage in 1940. In her retirement years, she enjoyed the simpler things in life which included knitting, visiting friends, watching television and driving around in her red Ford Tempo. Prior to her retirement she worked for E.P. Melanson. Cecile will be sadly missed by her two daughters: Fernande Cormier (Norman) of Waltham, MA and Jeannine Hebert (late Charles) of Kitchener; two sons: Ulysse (Rose) of Cocagne and Leonard (Norma) of Dieppe; a brother, Edgar (Hermance) of Halifax; step-sister, Elizabeth; two step-brothers: Jean-Philippe of Mississauga, ON and Louis of Londonderry, ON; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her husband, Edgar (1994); two brothers: Ulysse and Irois; three sisters: Mathilde, Tilda and Edmée, as well as a step-sister, Jeannita.
The family will receive condolences at St. Pierre R.C. Church Slumber room, 2000, Route 535, Cocagne on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m., Monday August 20, 2012 at St. Pierre R.C. Church Cocagne. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. In memory of Cecile, a contribution to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick would be appreciated.
