It is with deep sadness that we, the family announce the sudden passing of Evelyn ‘Evie’ Lorraine MacLeod, 70, of Whitney Pier on Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at home.
Born on MacLeod’s Hill, Sydney, Evie was a daughter of the late Andrew and Nora (Burke) MacDonald.
Evie was a lifelong member of Holy Redeemer Parish, Whitney Pier.
After graduating from Business College, Evie started her career at the Royal Bank, main branch, Charlotte Street until transferring to the Whitney Pier branch, where she retired after 37 years.
Evie loved spending time with family and friends and especially enjoyed the company of her grandchildren.
Evie was a very kind and generous person. She touched the lives of many who knew her and helped many she didn’t know. She will be missed by all.
Evie is survived by her loving husband, Graham after 50 years of marriage; sons, Todd (Carolyn), Scott (Denise) and Darren; special daughter-in-law, Brenda Butler, all of Sydney; granddaughter, Christine MacLeod; grandsons, Michael and Connor MacLeod, D.J. and Christopher Butler; sisters, Ann Champion, Catherine (Bill) Bungay, Helen (Bucky) Gallant; brothers, Vince, Charlie, John ‘Dicker’ (Joanne), and Andrew ‘Nick’; sister-in- law, Norma Evans and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Evie was predeceased by grandson, Dillon MacLeod, brothers, Jim and Joe and sister, Theresa.
Visitation for the late Evelyn ‘Evie’ Lorraine MacLeod will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) today (Monday, Aug. 20), from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass to celebrate Evie’s life will be held Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Reception will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home. Interment will take place in Hillcrest Cemetery, South Bar.
Donations in memory of Evie may be made to the Holy Redeemer Building Fund or to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
