It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Troy Francis ‘Paco’ Johnston, age 35, on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at his residence in Sydney.
Born in North Sydney, he was the son of Carol Ann ‘Sissy’ (Sakalauskas) Johnston.
Troy graduated from Memorial High School and also at UCCB with a diploma in Social Work and Communications. In earlier years he was involved with the 562 Cabot Squadron Air Cadets, he also volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Aids Coalition. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, and was a former altar boy. Troy was always ready to give a helping hand to anyone in need. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed and always in our hearts. He was taken away from us too young.
Besides his mother, Carol Ann, Troy will be deeply missed by his daughters, Samantha, age 11 and Emily, age 9, whom he loved very much and were his pride and joy; his stepfather, Michael Yurczszyn; his stepbrother, Michael and stepsister, Christine Marie Yurczszyn; his paternal grandmother, Florence Johnston. He will be greatly missed and loved by his aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
He was predeceased by an infant brother, Kevin Troy Johnston, and his maternal grandparents, Carl Francis and Georgina Lucy (Penny) Sakalauskas and his paternal grandfather, Leroy Johnston.
A private family visitation will be held for Troy and a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating.
