It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Thelma, daughter Gail Lyons (Russell) and son Arthur (Doreen). He is also survived by five grandchildren, Sarah, Rebecca, Sean, Brendan and Martin and six great grandchildren, Rhiannon, Aislinn, Ava, Reina, Jeremy and James. Arthur is also survived by his brother Alfred and family.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Born in Montreal, Arthur married the love of his life in 1948 and in 1951 built the family home in St. Hubert. Dad worked for Northern Electric as a lab technician and machinist for 30 years, where he invented and patented many items. He also worked on projects developing prototype automobiles for Concordia University and other entrepreneurs. At the age of 72, after a cross country trip to the west coast of Canada, he and his wife Thelma moved to Kamloops.

Arthur was a very compassionate person. He supported many charities and volunteered with the Lions Club for 30 years. Arthur loved animals, and always had his Boston Terrier at his side.

Dad had a true talent for oil painting. His choice of subjects ranged from tall ships, landscapes, family portraits to family pets. His other passions included photography, fishing, camping and tinkering in his home-based machine shop where he designed and built his own 24-foot camper trailer.

He also enjoyed traveling to Maldon, England the paternal home of the Morton family where there remain many family ties. Above all, Arthur was very loving towards his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He never ceased to show great pride in all their accomplishments.

A Celebration of Arthur's Life will be held at Chapters Viewpoint Restaurant (Downstairs Banquet Hall), 610 W. Columbia Street on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kamloops SPCA would be appreciated.
