It is with deep sorrow that we the family announce the passing of Joan Wilson, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, on Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in North Sydney, Joan was the daughter of the late Ruth Haggett (1936) and was raised by her grandparents, the late George T. (1943) and Roseann Haggett (1965) who were longtime residents of Ingraham Street in North Sydney. Joan was a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home since October 2011 and previously for 13 years, a resident of Balmor Drive, North Sydney. Joan was a member of Trinity Anglican Church in Sydney Mines.
Joan is survived by her husband, Alistair; her son, Kevin and daughter, Alison, all of North Sydney, and daughter, Brenda (Myke) Lindsay, Billings, Montana; her granddaughter, Tanya Wilson, North Sydney, and grandson, Andrew Vassallo, Bedford.
Visitation for the late Joan Wilson will be held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Peter Rafuse officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
