Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family on August 21st, 2012 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital. Predeceased by his parents Mary and Edward Rodgers. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife of 48 years, Mary (Kenny). Leaving to celebrate Thomas' wonderful life are his sons: Craig (Lauren Chafe), Blair (Bonnie Simmons), Paul (Tracy); daughters: Kellie (Gerry Carew), Colleen (Lewis Samuels); eight beautiful grandchildren: Kurtis, Matthew, Spencer, Sebastian, Peyton, Camryn, Haiden and Dhara. Brother, Edward (Keelin O'Leary), sisters-in-law: Lorraine Maher, Maureen Miller, Marie Ryan and brother-in-law Gus Kenny (Rosemary). As well as members of the Stamp and Fowler families, numerous other relatives and friends. A sincere and special thank you to all of Thomas' caregivers in the Coronary Care Unit at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital especially cardiologist, Dr. Fallows and critical care nurses. Thomas was very involved with the sea cadet movement for most of his life. He served in various positions including Commanding Officer of RCSCC Terra Nova, HMCS Avalon, HMCS Gimli in Manitoba and HMCS Qu'appelle in Saskatchewan. He retired in June, 1995. Thomas also spent over 41 years with the Navy League of Canada. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus with a Fourth Degree honourary life membership. Prior to his death, Thomas was employed for over 17 years with the Corps Commissionaires of Newfoundland and Labrador at the House of Assembly in St. John's. Thomas was a kind and gentle man with a great sense of humour which he loved sharing with his family and especially his grandchildren. He will be resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Thursday, August 23rd, from 2-4 and 7-9, Friday, August 24th from 10-9. Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, August 25th, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. from St. Pius X Church.
