Stephen V. Crowe, age 64, of Sackville, went to be the Lord on Friday, August 17, 2012, with his wife and family by his side. He passed away at the Drew Nursing Home under their kind and compassionate care.
Born in Springhill, N.S., he was a son of Gordon and Ruth (Wood) Crowe of River Philip, N.S.
Stephen was a kind and gentle man who loved spending time outdoors. He was a long-time member of Main Street Baptist Church and a respected member of their choir. He loved music, always playing and singing for the folks at the Drew Nursing Home. From 1967 to 1972 he proudly served for the Canadian Military and was later a member of the Sackville Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. He had been a truck driver for many years.
Stephen will be sadly missed by his wife of 41 years, Myrna (nee Saunders), Sackville; his parents, Gordon and Ruth (nee Wood) Crowe, River Phillip, NS; three brothers, Gordon (Chris), Halifax, Harold (Cindy), Truro, NS, and Glen (Darlene), Truro, NS, as well as two nephews, Jason and Jody.
He was predeceased by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lorne and Verna Saunders.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, N.B., where visiting hours took place on Tuesday, Aug. 21, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A legion service was held Tuesday evening. The funeral service will be held at the Main Street Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at 2 p.m, Pastor Andrew Swanson officiating. A luncheon to follow provided by the Main Street Baptist Church. Internment will follow in the Sackville Cemetery.
