STEWART, PENNY LYNN (HAZLETT) - Courageous, feisty, loving, and determined are a few words to describe the life of Penny Stewart who lost her battle with cancer on August 22nd, 2012. Surrounded by her loving family and friends, Penny's journey ended with dignity after a valiant fight, at the young age of 46. Born in Fredericton on June 30th, 1966 Penny was the daughter of Clair Hazlett and Donna Cole. Penny is survived by her knight in shining armour, Sandy Stewart, to whom she was married for six wonderful years. She is also survived by sons Lucas Ouellette and Jeremy Hazlett, step-daughters Wittney Haye and Shawna Stewart, granddaughters Lily Murphy and Savanna Narvey, sisters Misty McLaughlin (Peter) and Tally Wall (Dana), brother Tony Cole (Carrie Scoville), grandmother Violet MacDonald, grandfather Alphonse Perry, parents-in-law Basil and Faye Stewart, numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Penny will be missed also by her devoted canine friend, Kaylie, and special friend Carrie Ross. Penny was predeceased by grandfathers, Ray Kitchen, Allan MacDonald and Irvin Hazlett and grandmother Althea Perry. Penny lived her life with incredible passion for her family and friends. Her amazing strength of character was an inspiration to all who knew her. Always the one to insist on doing the right thing, she was known for standing up for people, encouraging and guiding them to become the best they could be. She was a very giving person with a natural ability to attract many friends into her life. She leaves a lasting legacy as an incredible mother to her sons. Their lives were richly blessed with Penny as their Mother. As a Dietary Clerk with Horizon Health, she spent many years forming lasting friendships with many of her colleagues who will dearly miss her.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 27th, 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm, at Bishop's Funeral Home on Woodstock Road. A special tribute service, celebrating Penny's life, will be held on Tuesday, August 28th, also at Bishop's Funeral Home, commencing at 2pm, with Pastor Rick Brewer officiating. Penny's family wishes to extend an invitation for interested friends and family to personally participate at this special celebration of her life by way of sharing special memories. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to every single person who showed amazing support and kindness to Penny throughout her illness. Penny was loved by many - she felt your love throughout her life and most importantly, these past few years when she needed you most. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
