Mary Florence Ley

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Florence (Mac Neil) Ley, at the age of 85. Florence had been a resident of Harbourstone Guest Home for the past four years.
She was the daughter of the late Neil Joseph and Mary (MacPhee) MacNeil.
Florence was an active member of Immaculate Heart parish and enjoyed singing in the choir. She will be fondly remembered by her many piano students in whose musical development she took such ardent interest. Florence had a life-long love of music and played bagpipes and piano in her youth and later, the violin. She actively encouraged her children in their musical pursuits as well.
She is survived by her husband, Alexander Ley, Sydney; her daughter, Jean (Robert) Wilson, Edmonton, Alta.; sons, Iain ( Karrie) Matheson, Middle Sackville, N.S. and Ranald (Debbie) Matheson, Yellowknife, NWT. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Joseph (Mary Jean) MacNeil, State College, Penn.; sister, Catherine (Lyman) Jackson, Yarmouth; and her grandchildren, Stephanie, Charles and Fiona Wilson, Edmonton, Geoffrey Matheson, Middle Sackville, and Caleigh and Breeya Matheson, Yellowknife.
She was predeceased by a newborn son, and her husband, John James Matheson (1974), brother, James MacNeil, Ottawa, Ont., sisters, Elizabeth MacLean, Sydney, Theresa Boudreau, St. Lucia, West Indies, Germaine Gibson, Guelph, Ont.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012 at T.W. Curry, Parkview Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart Church Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 11 a.m. Rev. Conrad Edwards will officiate. A reception to follow in the church hall. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
