Lieu de décès : SYDNEY, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada

Cecilia passed peacefully into eternal life on Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at the age of 81. During her brief illness, Cecilia was never without a hand to hold, and spent her remaining days surrounded by the love of many devoted family members and friends.
Born in Sydney Mines on Dec. 5, 1930, Cecilia was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary (Yaffallo) Demarco.
She was an active and dedicated member of St Mary's parish in Sydney, and lived every day as a shining example of her unwavering goodness and faith. Her true nature was evident in every bright smile, every invitation to “stay awhile for something to eat,” and every treasured conversation from the rocking chair of her sun-porch. She was a woman who truly enjoyed the fellowship of those around her and delighted in opening her heart and her home to both friends and family alike.
Cecilia could often be found on long walks throughout Whitney Pier with her close friend Sarah Hayward, or at home in her kitchen with Nanny, preparing her famous Italian meals for all to share. She loved snuggling in front of the television with her little cat, Phoebe on her lap, or knitting the newest patterns of mittens, scarves and hats for the winter months. Whatever the occasion, you could always count on a party at the Jockemeck residence, filled with good food, lots of laughter and the making of fantastic memories.
Left to mourn for this beautiful lady are daughters, Lena (Glenn) and Frances (Dave); grandchildren, Leah (Brian), Kyle, and Jennifer; sister, Nora ‘Nanny’; brother, Carmen (Ethel May); special friend and angel, Kathy House, as well as many other family and friends. Cecilia treasured her family above all else, and we draw strength from the knowledge that we have a special angel now watching over each of us.
Aside from her parents, Cecilia was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband, Stanley; brothers Russie and Tony; and sisters Lena, Rose and Mary.
There will be no visitation as per her request. A memorial mass in celebration of Cecilia's life will be held at St Mary's Church in Sydney at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating.
Special thanks are extended to her sister, Nora ‘Nanny’ for remaining Cecilia's life-long best friend, companion of 45 years, and loving caretaker in recent times. To Dr. Paul Murphy for his exceptional service and compassion; to the nurses of ambulatory care who put a smile on her face during every weekly visit; and to the wonderful women of City Homemakers who tended to her with such heartfelt love and dignity.
At the request of the family, donations in memory of Cecilia may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the City Homemakers Service.
"We may shed tears now that she is gone, but we will smile; because she lived."
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca or e-mail sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca.
