We regret to announce the passing of our loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, Effie May Campbell, on Aug. 29, 2012, at Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford.
Born Feb. 10, 1920, in Inverness, she was a daughter of the late Dora and Dan Archie MacKinnon.
Mom loved to bake and cook and share her goodies with families in the neighbourhood. She loved her church and was a lifetime member of the UCWL. She was a kind and caring woman who loved her family dearly. She had a big smile and a kind word for everyone she met. Mom loved to play cards with a group of her close friends for over 50 years.
Surviving are her children, Angus (Ena), Susie, both of New Waterford, Iris, Ajax, Ont., Peggy (Ralph), New Waterford, Daniel (Annmarie), Dominion, George (Carol), New Waterford; 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; close family friends, Helena Fraser and Joanne Anderson.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Sadie, grandson, Robbie, son-in-law, Simon, sisters, Mary Catherine and Susie, brothers, Lauchie and Archie.
At the request of our mom, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Calvin United Church, New Waterford, with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown, with a luncheon to follow at Calvin Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvin United Church or a charity of one’s choice.
