After a long battle with brain cancer, Brendan passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Mississauga Trillium Hospital at the age of 53. Beloved husband and best friend of Paula Fitzgerald and will be dearly missed by his step-daughter Erica Fitzgerald. Survived by his loving mother Mary. Adored brother of Patsy Downey (John), Jerry (Josephine), Christine Burke (Bill), Carl (Mercedes), Ann Marie Johnson (Stewart Johnstone), Dorreen Pond (Kelly), Colleen Johnson, Linda Baker (Keith), Scott (Cathy). Dedicated brother-in-law to Linda Cole (David), Allan Falconer (Sue) and Paula Johnson. Loyal friend to Doug Pendergast, Kevin Kennedy and Vito Collela. Survived by a large circle of extended family and friends. Predeceased by his father William and brothers Paul and Reg. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Princess Margaret Hospital for their continuous care and support for Brendan over the years. Brendan was a devoted teacher in the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board in Mississauga, who inspired many students in both academics and athletics. At Brendan’s request, there will be no Funeral Service. Cremation has taken place. A “Celebration of Life” in memory of Brendan will be held at Oakville Executive Golf Course, 4414 Fourth Line (Oakville, ON) on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 3-5 p.m. For more detailed directions, please visit www.oakvillegolf.ca.
